It really disappoints me when I see people not living up to their full potential. When they think they aren’t good enough for something, so they don’t strive to do any better. They just think that’s all there is to life, so they drop their standards and give up on their dreams. I wouldn’t mind being a motivational speaker or life coach someday, so I am writing this blog post to inspire you to do better. You can apply these two words to any area of your life – Career, Relationships, Financial Goals and more.
It’s very simple, it involves thinking highly of yourself, realising the work you have put in to get to where you are today, having high standards, and understanding that life is short. The best piece of life advice I can offer to you is:
I recently got accepted for a new position at one of New Zealand’s leading hotels. The role is out of my comfort zone, and will be a challenge because it’s something I have never done before. Yet, I have worked in hospitality for the last 5 years of my life and really wanted to ‘branch out’ of front of house service and learn more about the business side of hotels. I couldn’t believe I actually got the job over the other candidates because I am only 20 years old, and may be more inexperienced than them. But then I thought to myself, “I deserve it”. I have spent the last 3 and a half years getting a degree, I have put in the work, struggled so badly financially, worked my butt off to pass in my classes and to have a job on the side to earn money for my school fees. It is my biggest accomplishment in life, so why shouldn’t I get a good job out of it? This will be such an incredible learning experience for me, and many more opportunities will stem from this. But enough about me, more about you!
What did you want to be when you were a kid? A teenager? What were your hopes and dreams for your future lifestyle? Have you given up on them because adult life is harder than you thought it would be? I have definitely noticed some of the struggles of going out on your own to make something of your life. Do you wake up every morning excited to go to work? Do you feel challenged everyday at your job? Are you an appreciated and valued employee? If not, then you need to reconsider what this is doing to your happiness. If you are unsure what you want to do, an online personality test may help. The Myer’s Briggs Personality Test will tell you your strengths and weaknesses, as well as suggest possible career choices.
Don’t give up on your dreams because you think it’s too hard, or you don’t want to put in the work. If your excuse is that you don’t know how to do it, then learn! I am a firm believer in going to work because you want to, not because you have to. Choose something you love, that inspires and challenges you every single day!
Don’t settle in your relationships either. If someone doesn’t treat you right, give them the boot. You have a right to feel appreciated, loved, safe, beautiful, inspired, and comfortable around your partner. Set some ground rules and keep your expectations high. Don’t be in a rush to get into a relationship with anyone. It’s better to be single and enjoy your own company, than to end up with the wrong person.
You don’t need to go to University or College to become successful. However, if you do want to get further education, there’s nothing stopping you. If it’s money problems, pick up extra work, become aware of your bad financial habits through a monthly financial review, start a budget, start saving! If you don’t think you are smart enough to pass the exams, then study harder. I am not naturally smart, but I had excellent attendance to classes, put in the work behind the scenes, and tried to understand as much as I could. I put in the work to keep up with the others! You can do it too if you set your mind to it.

Something we all love, and can’t get enough of. There is no denying that money gives you freedom, and money gives you choices. Whether you are saving for a house, paying off debt, or getting out of the paycheck to paycheck cycle, you can help yourself to achieve your goals. Don’t settle for a low income, if you know you deserve more. But you also need the work ethic and skills to go with it. There are also other things you can do in your life apart from getting a high paying job. You can be more careful of your spending habits, you can invest, pick up odd jobs around your community, or start your own business if that’s your dream!
To Finish Up..
You can use the Law of Attraction to get anything you want in life. Whatever it is you are working towards, the secret is to become obsessed. Do everything in your power to learn more, do more, be more productive, take better care of yourself and set out a plan to achieve your goals. I highly recommend keeping a bucket list as well and review it at least once a year. Tick things off on a regular basis to ensure you are making the most of life, and reaching your full potential. Do something crazy like move to a new city, country, or even work on a tropical island!
I also highly recommend getting a mentor. A mentor is someone you can go to for help, who is already where you want to be. It can be someone to give you advice, coach you, challenge you, or help you to develop and play on your strengths. It can be a work colleague/business associate, family member, friend, partner, or someone random who you look up to, who is willing to help you. They can give you the tools and knowledge you need to help you achieve your life dreams.
I hope you take away this advice and remember for the rest of your life, until you are where you want to be. Until you have achieved your ultimate goals and lifestyle. Remember, you ARE good enough, and you ARE worth it ♥
