What if everything you have ever been told about a healthy diet, is wrong?
After recent discoveries about the link between the food we are eating, worldwide diseases and obesity developing at a rate faster than ever, I want to share my new knowledge with the world. It is a very controversial topic, and may still need further research, but as I am so passionate about health and well-being, I am thoroughly interested in this research. Many of these studies have actually been around for 50 years!
One of the reasons why many people don’t believe in the benefits of a plant based diet, is because it goes against everything we have ever been told, even from the biggest health organisations. It’s almost ‘too crazy’ to be believable, but if I can give you one piece of advice, it’s to keep an open mind.
I recently watched a newly released documentary called ‘What The Health‘, which is where some of the stated facts in this post come from. So lets get started!
According to Dr Axe, the average adult living in the US consumes about 22 teaspoons of added sugars every single day, including foods which consumers may believe are healthy. Some of the most ‘healthy’ foods that contain hidden sugars include:
- Breakfast Cereal
- Packaged Bread including ‘wholegrain’ kinds
- Muesli Bars
- Drinks including iced coffee and juice, including some store brought green smoothies
- Protein Bars and Meal Replacements
- Bottled sauces and condiments
- Restaurant Food where sugar is used in various dressings and desserts for added flavor.
Look out for these hidden sugars, they may lead to increased cravings, unsustainable energy peaks, and increased risk of obesity. Try and opt for natural sweeteners such as honey, and make your own breakfast cereal. Stick to tea, coffee and coconut water for alternative drinks to water. You can also make your own sauces, juices and smoothies.
According to Forbes, Pharmaceutical companies are one of the most highly profiting companies in the world. They are in the business of treating sick people, not in the business of trying to prevent people from becoming sick. What happens when you go to the doctor? You get pills for EVERYTHING, even if you don’t need them. That means you will need to keep coming back for the rest of your life. Even for a cold and flu – your body is designed to heal itself so you don’t need pills, you need nutrients in your diet to boost your immune system.
Think of hospitals. They don’t feed the patients nutrient rich foods, they feed them slop on a plate and jelly and ice cream. This means they will have to stay in there longer to recover. Once I realized this I was heartbroken, I would love to be able to fix this problem someday. Whilst watching the documentary – They had scheduled to film an interview with a prominent surgeon, but before they could get inside the building, the hospitals media relations manager stopped them. She said “The surgeon advocates for patients to change their diets, but the hospital makes money off these surgeries and he does too, so we can’t do anything that’s going to negatively affect the hospital so unfortunately you are not going to be able to film here today”. It was clear that the hospital was more interested in profits than peoples health.
Money In The Meat Industry
Each year, the US department of agriculture spends $550 million to bombard Americans with catchy slogans, urging them to buy more animal foods. Companies involved in meat production, along with their suppliers, distributors, retailers and ancillary industries employ 6.2 million people in the U.S. These jobs total $200 billion in wages. In New Zealand where I am from, dairy farming contributes to 46% of New Zealand’s total primary industry export. This goes to show what a large industry it is, and how it is marketed to us to consume to keep up the countries GDP, according to Dairy NZ.
- Just one serving of deli meat daily, increases your risk of colorectal cancer by 18%. One serving of processed meat per day, increases your risk of developing diabetes by 51%.
- The World Health Organisation classifies processed meat as a group one carcinogen. This is the same group as cigarettes, asbestos and plutonium.
- The cause of diabetes, is from a diet that builds up the amount of fat in the blood. This is a typical meat and animal based diet. If you look into the muscle cells of the human body, you will find they are building up tiny particles of fat that’s causing insulin resistance. What that means is the natural sugar from the foods you are eating, can’t get into the cells where it belongs. It builds up in the blood and that’s diabetes. No one realizes that meat is associated with diabetes, even me until I discovered this information.
- Over 17 Million people die every year from cardiovascular disease. It is the leading cause of death around the world.
- When it comes to chronic diseases, people develop a certain way of living and eating, which they then grow up and pass onto their children. It’s not so much genetic, its just a generation of bad habits that they are unaware of. That’s why the children then go on to develop the same diseases that their parents and grandparents may have had before them.
During the studies done for ‘What The Health’, it was discovered that Organisations such as the American Diabetes Association, American Cancer Society, Susan G Komen and American Heart Association, are taking money from meat and dairy companies that are associated with the causes of these diseases! Every one of these organisations declined to be interviewed about these sponsorship’s.
Every five years the US department of agriculture creates dietary guidelines for Americans. The committee who write these guidelines have received money from Mc Donald’s, The National Dairy Council, American Meat Institute, Dairy Management Inc, Beef USA, American Egg Board and more. This means we are getting our dietary recommendations from the very industries that are killing us.
If you don’t do it for your health, at least do it for the well-being of other animals on our planet ♥
We have are system where animals are living in their own waste. They are stuck in cages and living next to animals that are sick or even dead. They are also fed and pumped with drugs. The pharmaceutical companies sells 80% of all the antibiotics that it makes in the United States to animal agriculture, yet only 20% goes to ‘humans, pets and other’. This means we are consuming mass amounts of foreign products and chemicals in every meal. Testing shows 88% of pork chops are contaminated with fecal bacteria, 90% of ground beef and 95% of chicken breast sampled contained animal waste bacteria, due to dangerous high slaughter speeds.

Milk & Dairy Products
The best opening question for this topic is – What animal on this earth, drinks milk from another animal?
Most people in the world are lactose intolerant, they just don’t know it. Why would our bodies create a need for lactose, after we have been weaned off our mothers? I hate when other people try to shove their religion or personal beliefs in other people’s face, but my goal here is just to make you ‘aware’. Milk is a hormonal fluid designed to grow a baby calf. As said in my e-book, if you walk down the street and ask anyone why cow’s milk is important, they say “calcium”. It is marketed to us to make us think we need it, because it is such a huge industry that makes money. You can get calcium from dark leafy greens, soy products, nuts, lentils, oranges, oatmeal and more.
Do you feel like you are addicted to cheese? Studies show that casein protein, which is the main protein in dairy products and particularly in cheese, breaks apart in the human digestion, to create what are called casopmorphins. These compounds go to the brain, and they attach to the very same receptor that heroin attaches to. They are not as strong as that, but strong enough to make you come back again and again.
Milk is very mucus-binding, meaning that if you have a flu, the dairy in the ice-cream you eat to ‘soothe your throat’ can create more build up. Did you know there are actually laws limiting how much pus you can have in milk and still sell it? Yes that’s right, pus… People that drink milk have higher risks of hip fractures, higher risks of cancer, and live shorter lives. Even though there were studies done by Harvard showing that dairy consumption increases your risk of breast cancer, there are pink ribbons displayed on yoghurt containers in the supermarket, which relates back to the corrupt sponsorship’s mentioned earlier.
Where To From Here?
Eat real, plant-based, wholesome foods filled with fibre, natural sugars, protein, vitamins and minerals. Learn healthier ways to make your favourite foods, then you don’t need to feel guilty, AND you will feel great after every meal! Your energy levels will supercharge, you will lose weight, you may find you can go off your medications and even reverse chronic diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease and CANCER. These discoveries absolutely blow my mind!
The largest, strongest, terrestrial animals on the planet, are all herbivores. Which shows we can get everything we need from plant-based foods. If health and animal welfare isn’t enough to convince you, consider the fact that – Animal food production is one of the world’s leading causes of climate change. Do it for the planet! There are so many benefits to this way of life that the list goes on and on.
