I am passionate about personal development and finding ways to improve every-day life. I enjoy helping people be the best person they can be, and showing them how they can achieve their ultimate desires. I recently discovered TED talks and have picked out 6 inspirational videos that gave me the most impact or influence.
1. How to stop screwing yourself over – Mel Robbins
Talks about how to get what you want in life. This video is so inspirational and she has excellent values. She is one of the top career and relationship experts in America and is widely respected for her grab-em-by-the-collar advice and tough love. She drills through the mental clutter that stands between people and what they want. Her approach is smart, effective and entertaining.
2. 10 Ways to have a better conversation – Celeste Headlee
I personally struggle with having conversations with people who I’m not exceedingly close to. I am more introverted when it comes to this and I hate meeting new people. This video provides great tips on how to improve these skills which can be used in many aspects of life.
3. How to make work life balance work – Nigel Marsh
Work life balance is too important to be left in the hands of your employer. Marsh lays out an ideal balance between family time, personal time and productivity. Life can’t just be work work work or you will miss out on many of life’s happy moments. You need personal time, time with loved ones, and time for things you enjoy. Relax a little. I found this very insightful for my own obsession with earning money to pay off debt through working a ridiculous amount of hours and missing out on life.
4. A simple way to break a bad habit – Judson Brewer
Can we break bad habits by being more curious about them? Psychiatrist Judson Brewer studies the relationship between mindfulness and addiction — from smoking to overeating to all those other things we do even though we know they’re bad for us. Learn more about the mechanism of habit development and discover a simple but profound tactic that might help you beat your next urge.
5. The secret to desire in a long-term relationship – Esther Perel
Love is to have. Desire is to want. How do you keep the spark alive in a relationship? In what state do people desire their partners the most? Healthy relationships are very important in terms of quality of life. Do you come home to a partner that nags you or ignores you, or a partner that encourages you and inspires you through all aspects of life. The right partner can determine your success, level of happiness and life fulfillment. So how do you hold on to them? How do you turn back the clock to what it was like at the beginning of your relationship?
6. How to live to be 100+ – Dan Buettner
I found this thoroughly fascinating! Dan and his team have studied certain places in the world where people live to be over 100. They found common things these people did that differentiates them from the rest of the world including certain diets, certain ways to exercise, their communities way of life, mindfulness, culture, habits and friends. It all completely makes sense now and is a truly interesting video.
I hope these TED videos have inspired you to achieve your goals and go after what you want in life. I hope you find the insight you have now gained useful to your daily actions, and you feel more positive and knowledgeable.
